Review: Overboard Waterproof Accessories Bags

This is one of the first posts in a series of reviews of Bikepacking kit, which I'll be posting on the blog over the coming months, as I prepare my kit choices for the 'Coasts and Cols Tour'. I decided starting with one of the smallest and simplest, yet very useful pieces of kit, seemed logical. The Overboard Waterproof Dry-bags and Pouches, were an obvious choice…

Roll-top waterproof bags are a great way to keep things sealed, separated and safe when you're travelling. They certainly aren't a new item of kit for Bikepackers, but they are super useful. The collection of mini dry pouches from UK brand Overboard Bags, as well as their multi-sized multipack of larger bags, are ideal.

The Overboard kit is well made, and fantastic value; providing a stripped-back, minimalist approach. These dry bags are no exception. The multiple colours and sizes make them ideal as grab-bags for valuables, tools and small essentials; to stop contamination between different kit, and avoid smaller objects being lost in the depths of your pannier. The larger sized bags, are ideal as sleeping bag stuff-sacks or clothes bags; keeping them dry, clean and protected.

In a world of big packs and cavernous touring panniers, little aids like these are great for keeping tour kit dry, safe and easy to find.

The market for disc brake pads for gravel bikes, mountain bikes and road bikes is saturated; there are hundreds of different brands producing disc brake pads claiming to last longer and perform better than the competition. XPDTN3 Algarviana – Exploring Portugal's Secret Gravel

Just before the world went into Lockdown in March 2020, I squeezed in a last minute trip to Portugal's Algarve—to explore some of the amazing and unique gravel riding on offer there... Review – Scicon Aerocomfort 3.0 TSA Road Bike Bag

The best-selling Scicon Aerocomfort Bike Bag has received some significant design updates. With thru-axle compatibility, added protection, and an overall lighter weight—the Scicon Aerocomfort 3.0  is even more of a market-leader than before. Recipe – The Ultimate High Energy Flapjacks

This traditional flapjack recipe is packed full of energy for long days on the bike. The oats supply a great low-GI fuel source, while the dried fruit offers instant energy and sweetness. Whether on or off the bike, these flapjack bars are a great high-energy snack for cycling. You can adapt the recipe by adding in other dried fruit, seeds, nuts, and spices to make these even more varied and flavoursome. I particularly like pumpkin seeds and chopped crystallised ginger added to the mix.
